Jul. 28th, 2009 @ 07:19 am For Luau Queen jenthegypsy: Fic-in-a-pic
Dear Beautious Queen jenthegypsy ,
I come before you bowing and scraping and humbly begging your forgiveness. You see, I had every intention of crafting for the Queen what had promise of being Most Wondrous Fic Ever (well... probably not even close to that, but that darn bunny said it would be good, at least). But... alas... despite that adorable little bunny's efforts, my feeble brain just would not allow me to transfer from idea to words that which was hatched at my doorstep.
Please, My Queen... do not 'off my head', for I do still have a gift, a wee offering, for you.
May I present a 'Fic-In-A-Pic'. If you look carefully (I will even let you borrow my shiny new bifocles) and ignore the roughness of my attempt, you should be able to see the story.
*lays hastily but lovingly wrapped giftie at Her Majesty's dainty feet (ooh... nice nail polish, Queenie) and backs out the door*

*Queen Gypsy looks down and is momentarily distracted by her wiggling, shiny toes*

Get up off your knees, silly subject (unless, of course, Udre has demanded it - Udre trumps Queen, always!), you'll get squished bug guts smeared about on them! Now let Us look. *begins to unwrap giftie* What have you brought for Us this morning?

Why...it's Lord Hume! Lord Hume and his wee bairn Cha-lee!
*HRH gets a bit weepy for a moment* And what's this? Cha-lee has drawn his daddy a picture? Precocious darling! But what... *Her Hinneyness takes proffered bifocals and peers closely at drawing*

Do We see The Numbers scattered about there? And an airplane? And a house? And Smoky? Egad! There's more to this than meets Our eye ~ not to mention the fact that Cha-lee has already started drawing something verra similar to his daddy's hatch mural... Oh, Our stars and garters!

This is a Most Wonderful Gift, dear and former Queen! We are Most Pleased, if not still a little mystified. And We are Most Grateful, as well. There shall be no beheadings today!

You may stand down, Dimitri!
Sir Guy

DIMITRI!! Oh, Dimitri doesn't have to stand down if he doesn't want to... :p
('blah blah blah'... BAAHAHA!)

We are Most Pleased, if not still a little mystified
Oh dear. *sigh* I was afeered of that.
Okay, see... what I wanted the fic to be was to start off with a sweet, heartsting tugging vignette with Daddy Desmond coming down from the deck to join his lovely family after a day of steering, etc. Charlie wasn't allowed outside this particular day because he has the sniffles, or something... whatever would keep him inside with his mum, who spent the day entertaining him with crayons and paper, and teaching him his letters and numbers. Too young, you say? Yes, I realize that... and even Des was going to mention that, with Penny retorting that it's never too soon to teach children these things. And to prove it, Penny proudly shows Des Charlie's magnificent renderings. Pages of them. Mostly scribblings at first but better and better...
Until finally Des looks at the last one, his brow creases, he looks more closely...
and he sees the numbers and stuff and we cue the creepy/erie music.

And THAT'S what I just couldn't get out of my head and properly into entertaining words. I am still rather upset at myself.

Oh... and as a wee part two, or a short ending, I wanted to have Desmond wake in the middle of the night to hear little Charlie calling out "Da" (he calls his daddy 'Da', you know... in my head) and Des gets up to go see why Charlie is awake, worried that he may have had a bad dream or something... and when he reaches Charlie's bed, the little one continues to call out, but Desmond slowly realizes that what Charlie is actually saying is 'Da-nl'.
Daniel.

Ta-Da The End and I dearly hope you are no longer confused, My Queen.

*shivers* **attempts to shake them off** Was all ready to be flip and say well, *of course* little Charlie calls his father "Da" ... but the finish. Oh my. You need to write this. It is fabulous and vaguely creepy and textbook-perfect Lost, and you need to write it.

Uh ... what is this crate-like thing I'm standing on? *climbs down and slinks off*

You are not fail - but rather flail! And you can write it - in time - and I'll wait! Thank you very much.

The Da thing... Oooooooooh! *feeds bunny*

No! Not "fail" at all! I know how wonderful your writing is (omg, the scope of what you can do!), and you can certainly write this. Sometimes pressure is the right stick carrot, and sometimes the words won't flow till the pressure's off... *pets lovely little bunny*

Heck, the piece you beta'd for me tonight has been more than half written for over a year!

Oh deary me! I think Dimitri is in favor of beheadings. I've just heard him utter (in his chocolately voice) "This lostpuffin must face the consequences. Away with her. Off to give head."

Ah dearest Ames-
This is so adorable...and very clever!
Quite a lovely offering for Queen Gypsy. :)
You ARE going to make me get MY bifocals, aren't you?
(A few minutes ago Tommy asked me why I had my laptop screen turned upside down! LOL!)
Beautiful work as always!

(I shall continue to study wee Chalee's handiwork later on....)

What an awesome manip! *bows before your mad photoshopping skillz*

After some preliminary wheel spinning with Jen, I was thinking maybe little Charlie wrote his Da a letter and that Penny had no clue how he ended up with so many numbers in the letter, nor why they were significant, but that Des gets all weirded-out by The Numbers, but tries not to show it. Your real story is so far beyond that... *\o/*

That's pretty good wheel spinning there! And gets to the same point, really. :)
